The Middle East Institute published an analysis, "A report card on women’s integration into Arab militaries," by Dina Arakji, on 6 March 2024.

The article outlines and analyzes Arab countries’ efforts to implement Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) by rolling out National Action Plans (NAPs) with a particular focus on their efforts to increase women’s presence in the armed forces. In particular, the piece assesses the defense and security elements in the NAPs of Iraq, Tunisia, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.

"Out of the 22 states of the Arab League, only 12 have adopted NAPs to advance WPS. Furthermore, out of the 12 states, only a few have discussed involving women in defense and security. This reflects the loose commitment of Arab states to credibly promoting women’s presence and integration into their countries’ security apparatus," writes Arakji.
